I Love Being An Aunt...💖

Kids make life more exciting. Just being able to watch them grow, learn and play is such an amazing and enjoyable experience. I love babies and kids in general, watching them run around a playground or in their push chairs around town or on the bus but being able to watch my niece and see her everyday is the absolute best. 

Being a parent, especially when the child is very young, isn't easy at all, especially when you have work and friends to balance too but in some ways being an aunt is like being a second mother, without the actual stress. I get to feed her, and play with her and even occasionally calm her down when she is in a fuss or crying. 

Every moment with the little bundle of joy is extremely special, but two of my many favourite moments are the first time I ever held her, in the hospital, and when I was trusted by my sister to look after he daughter in her apartment when she and her husband went out one evening, even though the little love did make a huge fuss when she woke up and saw her mother wasn't there.


When I come home from work, and my mum is looking after my niece, and I come through the door I hear her call me and when she sees me her little face lights up and she gets really excited. She has the sweetest little laugh and can be a real chatterbox, but I could listen to her giggles and chatter all day. 

She loves counting, and I really enjoy helping her learn her numbers. Sometimes when I am playing with her or holding her hand she will touch my fingers and try counting to five and then she repeats after me when I count, shouting out the numbers that seem to be her favourites more than the others. I just love how excited she gets when counting, and how she copies me when I am showing her something new. 

I have so many video clips and photos of her on my phone which she loves looking at, with her little excited smile on her face. I love catching little moments of her whenever I can, and watching them back. Its just so interesting to look back at videos and see how much she's grown in such a short amount of time, even though she is growing up way too fast. 

She loves listening to nursery rhymes and songs and sometimes I sing them to her, even though I am terrible at singing, and she joins in, which is adorable. I probably have listened to the songs with her a bit too much because at times I have found myself humming some of them to myself at work.  

Listening to her talk is adorable and amazing. I honestly get excited hearing her say new words, and I love trying to teach her new ones. When we are out she'll point at buses and cars and with a little smile say what they are. Her favourite word at the moment is "wow" and says it so much in any situation-from showing her a picture in a book or pointing out something in the garden. She is such a quick and eager learner and every moment with her is the best and I wouldn't change any of these moments for anything. 

She loves cuddling up to me. She'll come join me on the sofa, bring me a book she wants me to read to her, or sometimes lie on top of me and rest her head on my chest and just snuggle there. She also loves being carried around. I love all the cuddles, and reading books, while pointing out all the pictures. She loves having attention, and she always gets it as she's always got people around her. 


Everything about being an aunt is amazing, and I wouldn't change it for anything. I get to enjoy all the fun and enjoyable parts and also get to be a little silly and crazy, by dancing around the room to make her laugh or singing to her. I get to spoil her a little and entertain her, yet I don't have to do any of the serious parent stuff. 



Being an aunt is one of my most favourite things and I love my niece so much. 
Every moment with her is a moment well spent.

Not that long ago I would have very quickly turned down watching this sort of movie because I was so sure I wouldn't be interested in them, and I used to be very particular about the films I liked to watch.But with a lot of pushing from my dad and brother, and comments about movies from one of my best friends, I finally gave in and decided to give them a try. Lost In Paris?! - Storytime

I can't remember the year I went to this school, but I went to a school near to where I live which was bilingual. There were students from across Europe but most students were Swiss. I didn't like my main class teacher very much but I am not going to be talking about class. Instead, today, I am going to talk about our school trip to Paris, France. The French class I was in my brother was part of too, which had its positives and negatives, which I also won't go into but our class was small because we were one of the "learning french as foreign students" class. It was a warm spring day and outside the birds were singing. Jessica stood alone in the cold and dim underground station, after spending the Saturday morning shopping, in London, with her friends, and waited for the train to come. The world seemed to be at peace, but Jessica felt strange, as if something bad was about to happen. Something bad.
