23 things I’ve Learnt In 23 Years ๐ŸŽ‰

Today is my 23rd birthday, so I thought I’d share 23 things I have learnt in my 23 years!

1. Don't change yourself in any way for someone else or to try fit into a group of friends. If people don't accept you for you, then they don't deserve your friendship.

2. Never give up! Life can be really difficult and there are moments when you will feel like you have been hit in the face and you feel like not trying anymore but don't let that stop you. You will have times when you will need to kick and pull your way through but never give up.

3. Don’t try so hard to keep people in your life. If they want to leave then let them go. Holding on will just cause you more pain than is needed.

4. Having no friends can be extremely lonely but it's better than having fake friends who don't appreciate you.

5. Just because you are different it doesn't make you any less important than someone else. In fact, it's good to be different. Don't feel you have to follow the crowd.

6. Practice makes perfect. If you continue trying and practicing you will get better. Just stick at it!

7. Go out of your comfort zone now and then. It may be difficult but you may be pleasantly surprised.

8. Friendships and relationships are not always easy. There will be arguments and misunderstandings at times, but if you choose to fight for it, it could work out.

9. Your siblings may be difficult and annoying at times but really they will be the best friends you could ever ask for, and are always there for you...in the good times and difficult times.

10. Don't ignore the small things, they can often bring the biggest joy and make some of the best memories...like late night chats with cousins and siblings, laughing and talking at family reunions, or even just sitting and chatting by the lake with a good friend.

11. You never know when an opportunity will be taken away from you, so make the most of it whilst you have it.

12. It’s totally okay to not know what you want to do, if you’re getting experience or working on something along the way whilst discovering and figuring things out  then you’re using your time wisely.

13. Friendship is found, even through a keyboard. A large distance between friends doesn't make the friendship any less real than a friend you get to see in person.

14. Save money along the way, even if it’s just a small part of your income.

15. Dance around your room if you want to, or even around the house and sing...you don't have to be good at it but it can really raise your mood and make you feel a lot better when you are feeling down.

16. Be kind to people, but you don’t have to be friends with everyone.

17. Don't give up on your interests or dreams, even when things don't seem to be heading in the direction you wanted. You never know what will happen or where your hard work will lead you.

18. Read. Just keep reading. You can never have too many books and there is no limit on learning new things.

19. Don’t hide away your passions, or interests, if people tease you for those things then they aren’t worth your time.

20. Family is everything. They are always there, no matter how far away we are from each other.

21. Being an Aunt is one of the best gifts, just being able to watch a little angel grow up and being able to be part of it. I wouldn’t change that for anything.

22. Those little dreams, if it’s possible put them into action and try make them happen. They might not work out, but at least you would have tried.

23. You don’t have to have much money or go very far to have a good time and enjoy yourself.

What would you put on your list of some of the things you have learnt in life so far?

I'd love to hear some of yours...
