Hello 2021!! 🎉

2020 is over!! I feel like it was really long yet at the same time it sped by. I really hope I am not the only one that thinks that!

It really has been a crazy, difficult and strange year that nobody expected and I am excited, yet also scared, to see what this year will hold. I really don't know what to expect for 2021, but I am excited for another year and see what this year will bring.

For New Year's Eve, my family and I didn't really do much. We had a lazy evening, and didn't really celebrate. We did stay up and welcome the new year in, but then that really wasn't anything different from any other night. We are kind of a family of night owls...especially me. I was awake until about three in the morning. I had a couple of snacks and watched The Devil Wears Prada, and some YouTube videos. I also messaged a couple of my friends until the early hours of the morning! Then woke up around one in the afternoon!! Not the best thing to do..but it was defiantly fun!!

How did you all spend your New Years Eve? Did you do something to celebrate? Did you stay up until midnight, or like me the early hours of the morning?

A new year also is the time people set themselves some resolutions for the year. I have made some in the past but then have never really kept to them. I am not always the most organized. I mean, right now, I have files on my desk in my bedroom that I planned to organize over a month ago. I started then got interrupted and they are now just lying there on my desk... BUT I have some goals I want to try work on this year and I thought I would share some of them..mostly for myself to look back on and see if I did any of them.

- I want to continue working on my French. I have seen an improvement this year, while interacting with people at my work (I work in a completely French speaking setting...so have to talk in French) but I am nowhere near fluent. I want to be able to have an actual conversation with people without stuttering over everything and making so many mistakes.

-Read Read Read...I am studying literature with The Open University so have books I have to read for that but I have so many books I want to read too that I haven't got round to reading. I find it really difficult to read more than one book at a time so it's been difficult at the moment. But I really love reading and getting lost in another world so I want to read a lot this year.

-Write Write Write...I love writing but I find it difficult too. I have so many ideas but it just feels so difficult turning the ideas into something written down on paper, or on a word document. I have been trying to write a book but was struggling so took a bit of a break on that, which I am trying to get into again. I also want to write a lot more on this blog. I always say that then it never happens but I really want to push myself to do it more because I love posting on here.

-Take more photos. I love taking photos when I am out, but I really want to get into it more.

-Go exploring/travelling. Going travelling at the moment seems like it won't be easy with everything that has been going on but I can still explore areas I haven't been to in my area and maybe visit other parts of Switzerland too, which I haven't been to or haven't visited in a while.

-Spend less money on things I don't really need. I love shopping, and often do it when I am feeling a bit down which isn't the best thing to do. I end up just buying things I don't need, or books which I then don't end up reading. I plan to cut back on getting Starbucks too, even though that will be difficult. I love my coffee!!

-Working on my university course. Waking up early to go to work then coming home and having to study is kind of difficult at times. I lose the motivation easily, and find it really difficult to get into the swing of things. I love what I am studying and really want to get really into it, which is kind of difficult at the moment. Anyone got any study tips?

-Working out..exercise. I do walk around town a lot, after work, often go exploring a bit, and then walk across the field I live near when coming home from work but I want to do more than that. But again, it's the motivation that is difficult and I don't really know what to do, apart from walking.. so I will have to see about that.

Anyway those are my goals for the year.

Do you have any goals or resolutions for 2021? What are they?

Anyway, Happy New Year everyone!!
