My Random Interests: Titanic Conspiracy Theories

One of my favourite movies is Titanic, which stars the amazing Leonardo DiCaprio, but I am not going to be talking about the movie or about Leonardo in this post, which hopefully will not upset anyone reading this. 
This post is going to be about some conspiracy theories that surround the Titanic and what people think really happened. I know this is very different from things I have posted previously on this blog, but here is where I share things I am interested in and for anyone who doesn't know, one of my favourite things to read or watch online are conspiracy theories...even though I do not believe most of those I have heard. 
But I actually kind of believe some of these conspiracy theories about the Titanic, so hopefully some people find this interesting. 
Oh, and one more thing, I am not saying what I am saying is all true, but I have found this topic interesting as I have read up on it and watched videos about it a couple of times over the last year.


  • Over the years many people have been talking about the Titanic and learnt how it sunk on that  night in April 1912, however some people actually believe that the Titanic was actually swapped with another ship, which was said to have been its sister ship the Olympic, as part of an insurance plan.

  • When the Titanic was pictured, while it was in the progress of being built, it had 14 evenly spaced portholes but when it left Southampton on its "first" voyage on April 10th 1912 it was said to have been pictured with 16 portholes, like it was said to have been on the Olympic ship.

  • A wealthy gentleman named J.P.Morgan was among many people who cancelled their trip at the last minute. Morgan's reason for cancelling was because he was of ill health, but just a couple days after he was spotted on holiday in France, and seemed to be perfectly healthy and well. As well as this, J. Bruce Ismay's wife Julia and their children also cancelled due to his wife's ill health, however they were spotted on a motoring holiday in Wales, not long after the ship had set off on its voyage. As well as this, a number of other people cancelled and did not get on the ship.

  • The Federal Reserve was formed the very next year, and apparently a couple of people who were against the Federal Reserve were on the ship, which as we know that ship then went down. People believe it may have been sunk on purpose to get rid of those people.

  • There were many men out of work around the time the Titanic ship was hiring, before setting off, but nobody wanted to sign up to work on the ship. Why would they not want to sign up for work if they were out of work, unless they had heard rumours about the ship not being the ship it was being said to have been.

  • There was apparently another ship nearby that had NO passengers and was full of dry clothes and warm blankets, but the plan to get the passenger-free ship to the sinking ship in time failed. 

  • There were about 22 hundred people in total on the Titanic but there were only twenty lifeboats. One reason for this was because the Titanic was meant to have been unsinkable. About 700 people survived the sinking of the ship, but everyone else is said to have died, even the Captain of the ship who refused to get on the life boats.

  • People think the ship was sunk on purpose, and that it was led into the iceberg on purpose, as at the time the ship hit the iceberg it was clear and calm at sea meaning the iceberg would have been able to be seen and the ship would have been able to have been turned to go around the iceberg before it got close enough to hit it.

  • Apparently the lifeboats were not switched round when the switch of the ships was made, Olympic and Titanic, and the lifeboats had the name Olympic visible on them. And the name of the Olympic ship was removed and the word Titanic was etched onto the ship to replace the Olympic name.

Anyway, that's all I was able to collect information of for this post. But I am sure there is a lot more on the internet about all this. If you know anything else, that I did not mention about this conspiracy theory leave them in the comments below as I would love to know. And, I am sorry if my points were a bit all over the place. I wrote them in the way that they came to me and that I found them in.

Lost In Paris?! - Storytime

I can't remember the year I went to this school, but I went to a school near to where I live which was bilingual. There were students from across Europe but most students were Swiss. I didn't like my main class teacher very much but I am not going to be talking about class. Instead, today, I am going to talk about our school trip to Paris, France. The French class I was in my brother was part of too, which had its positives and negatives, which I also won't go into but our class was small because we were one of the "learning french as foreign students" class. It was a warm spring day and outside the birds were singing. Jessica stood alone in the cold and dim underground station, after spending the Saturday morning shopping, in London, with her friends, and waited for the train to come.
