Winter Adventure| I thought I was going to die?!

I am not a huge fan of the cold, therefore I don't like the snow very much. I love taking photos of the snowy scenery but except for that I try to have as little to do with it as possible but living in a country where it snows every winter it is very hard not to be outside in the snow at all. A couple years ago, I was going to school every day and of course this included during the winter seasons. I live on a hill and in the mornings I would always walk down the hill to catch the bus to school.

Now, on this particular day that I am going to be telling you about there was no snow. It was cold weather but it was not freezing. I was rushing for school, and had everything but before leaving I pulled on my everyday pair of shoes. The whole day went well, and I did not worry at all about the shoes I was wearing. That is until the late afternoon. It had started to snow after the first break but it had not really settled much but as the day went on, the snow had started to settle and I did not think at the time while sitting in class but the snow was always worse where I live, because of the difference of being on a hill. But little did anyone know at the time how bad the snow was going to get.

By the end of the day the snow was covering the ground completely and it was still falling. Half way home on the bus the bus stopped as the roads were so covered in snow that it was getting too dangerous for the bus drivers. In fact the bus I was on got stuck and couldn't move. So, I got off the bus and had to walk as no buses were able to run for a while. As I mentioned I was just wearing normal shoes that were not very suitable for snow. I kept slipping as I walked and started to worry that I might fall into the road so I walked very slowly. Finally a bus arrived and I got on but the hill was still yet to climb. The walk up the hill started off fine. I didn't slip and things looked alright but less than half way up I started to slip and then I fell. For my school bag I used an open bag and when I fell some of my things fell out and I was slipping and sliding when trying to pick the things up, stuff them in my bag and also get up. Not long after I was on my feet again I started to slip around again. I got to a point where I could not move up without slipping and I could not re-plan my steps by moving back. I was stuck. I literally thought I was going to fall and bang my head and die. I started to panic, then I started to cry. I called my mum on my mobile phone but of course she did not want to get in the car and pick me up because the road was covered in snow.

I just stood in one spot for ages trying to work out how I was going to get home. Tears were streaming down my face. I was sure I was going to be stuck there for hours. Each time I moved one of my feet I started to slide. An old lady walked past, wearing suitable shoes for the weather, and said something to me about the snow but I can't remember what she said but she did for sure say something about the shoes I was wearing.

I somehow managed to grab onto the wired fence, that ran along the bushes and pulled myself along upwards. It took a very long time to get to the top of the hill, much longer than usual but after a lot more slipping, sliding and almost falling I arrived at the top of the hill and safe and sound at home.

I made sure after that to wear suitable shoes for the winter weather and I have not had a time as bad as that day when walking up and down the hill.

Comment your scary snow experiences below if you have any. I would love to read them!
