What To Do In Winter Where I Live....🎄- Countdown To Christmas
The Snow On My Road, And In My Garden, This First Week
Of December.
In Switzerland there is one thing you always know for sure. When it's winter it is going to snow.
I am not really a fan of snow. I like it when I am inside the house, in the warmth, but I don't really like being out in it because I hate the cold. But I am always taking video clips or photos because it really does look beautiful. A lot of people go skiing or snowboarding around this time of year. And sledding too. I am terrible at skiing, I always fall and hurt myself or just embarrass myself in front of strangers and I have never been snowboarding. Sledding is ok, but again I don't like being out in the cold.
There are spots close to where I live where you can easily go sledding but you have to go further out, into the mountains, to go skiing or snowboarding.
Starbucks is popular here, like I feel it is in most countries. And of course they have the seasonal Christmas drinks. I love grabbing a Starbucks drink after work, and going round town a little. Previous Christmas Times there has been a Christmas market in the town centre as well as others across Switzerland. The one in my area is kind of small compared to others but this year it's not happening because of you-know-what. The Christmas market usually is what gets me excited for the Christmas season and it doesn't really feel much like Christmas without it. I don't really understand why it's not happening because shops are open and other markets have happened and it would be outside but can't do anything about it...but it is a huge shame that it's not happening.
The Christmas market, when they happened, in my area would be in little huts like the ones pictured (which I took a year or so ago) and they sell churros, chocolates, scarves, toys, jewellery and that sort of things. Its always a lot of fun looking around, and admiring all the little delights. As well as buying some Churros for yourself or to share with your shopping buddies.
I have really been missing the Christmas market this year. It is always so much fun just wondering around, with a warm drink, and looking at all there is on offer. The shops are still open, which is nice, and there are so many people out and about doing their Christmas shopping. My family don't decorate for Christmas but I have been so tempted to buy some decorations and little Christmasy things because everything looks so pretty.
There is also an Ice Skating Rink, usually, set up in town, near the cinema, but I am not sure if that is happening this year and then there is also a swimming pool in town that is frozen over and made into an Ice Skating Rink in the winter season. I enjoy going Ice Skating but I am honestly terrible at it. I just go slipping and sliding all over the place.
A lot of things are closed right now because of the "current situation" but usually the cinema and bowling place is open and are always very popular during the winter time. There are also a couple more activity places around, which are usually open, like Escape Rooms (which I would love to do one day) and Night Clubs...(which is something I have never done)
I can't think of any other wintery activities in my area but there is always something to do, well in more normal times there have been.
What is there to do where you live during the Winter Time?
Is everything closed or are you able to do any of the activities on offer?
